The Passing of Brandy Riche

9 Apr 2026 12:13 PM | Christina Chelf (Administrator)

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Brandy Riche, a dedicated GIS professional and former Pierce County IT–Spatial Services Manager, who retired in 2023. She passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 1, surrounded by her family.

Brandy was widely recognized in the GIS community for her passion, expertise, and commitment to advancing spatial data and systems. Her work had a lasting impact in the region, helping to develop GIS applications that supported residents, emergency management, and public services. Beyond her technical contributions, Brandy was known for her mentorship, care, and friendship. She had a remarkable ability to make colleagues and collaborators feel valued and supported.

In retirement, Brandy focused on her family, enjoying time with her children and grandchildren, particularly cheering at her granddaughter’s basketball games. She also loved art projects, daily walks in nature, and encouraging others to pause and appreciate the world around them.
