Permissible Map Entries

Each participant is limited to entering a maximum of one print and one digital submission in the contest (these can be two completely separate projects, or a related project in two formats).

Each submission must be received by May 5, 2026 at noon and include a written abstract about the submission.

Each submission must specify which category the presenter wishes to submit for.

For all entries, provide a .png file of the map, application, or script and a url to an online version if submitting for a digital category. This will need to be provided at the time of submission.

For physical submissions, maps/posters must be a maximum size of 24” x 36”, and can be brought to the conference center on either 5/19 (Workshop day) or by 8:30 am on 5/20 (First day of the conference).

Printing scholarships are available.
Jupyter Notebook assistance is available upon request.

Categories
There will be one winner from each of the four (4) categories below, and the winner may be a student or professional. There will also be one student winner chosen overall (a student may win in one of the categories below as well as be chosen the overall student winner).
Physical Submissions:

Analytical- Stand-alone images analytical in nature. Creative, effective, insightful integration of geospatial data.

Artistic- Innovative visual expression of cartography and geographic concepts, using any type of physical and/or digital media.
Digital Submissions:

Apps- Interactive applications that may be consumed on a browser or a mobile device. Effective, attractive, functional, engaging.

Scripts- A Jupyter Notebook with code, maps, and/or charts.
