    Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking an outdoor professional to serve as a Watershed Info Mgmt. & GIS Professional (ITP B-BU). This position will report to SPU's Watershed Management and serves the SPU Water Line of Business, and other SPU branches in a distributed organizational model.  

    • Provide expertise in geographical information system (GIS) products and services essential to business operations, including asset inventory and management, operational maintenance, capital improvement, spatial analysis of natural capital, emergency response in a wildland setting, security and access control, public education, natural and cultural resources management, and executive administration. 
    • Deliver products and services include conducting spatial analyses, cartography, story maps, innovative mobile GIS software applications, and enabling employee workflow automation. This position serves as an expert steward of spatial data covering 100,000 acres of municipal watershed lands, supports a diverse customer base of government subject matter experts, and serves community partners. 
    • Plans, creates, assesses, describes, and preserves spatial analysis and data feature classes and metadata schemata, and presents the results in cartography, immersive story maps, and mobile software applications.
    • Deliver products and services on-demand during emergency response, with little to now lead time, to support response strategies in a wildland setting with spatial products as critical information.

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in library sciences, GIS, or related field.


    OR


    Education/Experience Equivalency: 2 additional years of related work experience.


    Experience: Five (5) or more years of experience in the following area or areas: engineering or technical records archiving, and retrieval, geographical information systems, and engineering plan review.  Three or more years of supervisory experience.


     
     The full salary range for this position is: $119,955.60 - $179,902.08 Annually
