    Position Description

    Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking an experienced leader to serve as a Section Manager to oversee and guide its Engineering Records, and GIS sections. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact by leading cross-departmental partnerships and driving innovation in support of SPU’s mission.

    As Section Manager, your top priorities will include ensuring the protection of SPU’s assets by collaborating with City Light, Parks, and SDOT to establish standards, procedures, and agreements. You’ll play a crucial role in conflict resolution at the project level, while providing strategic direction to two functional teams and promoting an inclusive, high-performing work environment.

    Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing budgets, and facilitating successful project completion—all while fostering an environment of growth and development for your team.

    Additional Information

    This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Starting November 4, 2024, City employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.  
     

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in library sciences, GIS, or related field.


    OR


    Education/Experience Equivalency: 2 additional years of related work experience.


    Experience: Five (5) or more years of experience in the following area or areas: engineering or technical records archiving, and retrieval, geographical information systems, and engineering plan review.  Three or more years of supervisory experience.


     
     The full salary range for this position is: $119,955.60 - $179,902.08 Annually

    DAHP is the principal department charged with the recordation and protection of Washington’s cultural resources.   Both state and federal law task DAHP with being the central repository for cultural resource data.
     
    You will support the geographic information system (GIS) program that enables the agency to meet its state and federal statutes.  You will be responsible for digitizing locational information into ArcGIS SDE databases and capturing related data into Microsoft (MS) Access databases and WISAARD for traditional cultural properties, National Register of Historic Place data, cemetery sites, historic property linear features, archaeological sites, cultural resources reports and reviews Forest Practice Applications.  You’ll work collaboratively with the GIS Program Manager to ensure that DAHP GIS initiatives conform to DAHP policies and are carried out efficiently and accurately.
